A slurry pump is a centrifugal pump engineered to move a mixture of liquid and abrasive solids — ore fines, tailings, sand, ash — without the wet end wearing out in weeks. The rubber lined slurry pump is one of the two main construction types, alongside metal-lined pumps for coarser, heavier-impact duty.
What is a slurry pump used for?
Transferring abrasive process streams that a standard water pump can't survive: mill circuit sump service, flotation feed and concentrate, cyclone and thickener underflow, tailings transport, dredging, and sewage or effluent duty carrying fine grit.
Which pump is used for slurry with fine, sharp particles?
For fine, sharp-edged abrasive particles at moderate temperature and pH, a rubber lined slurry pump like the 4/3D-THR typically outlasts a metal-lined equivalent. For coarse, high-impact particles or high-temperature duty, a metal-lined pump is usually the better fit.
Is the rubber liner on the 4/3D-THR replaceable?
Yes. The volute liner, frame plate liner, throatbush, and impeller are all replaceable wear parts, designed to be swapped without replacing the casing or the pump itself.
How does a slurry pump work?
Slurry enters through the suction, the impeller spins and adds kinetic energy to the mixture, centrifugal force converts that energy into pressure inside the volute, and the slurry is discharged toward the next stage of your process.
