Hydroman® TBZ415 Submersible Pump
You have a long discharge line, a big elevation gain, and a pit full of liquid that is not clean water. A standard drainage pump will either stall against the head or wear out in a few weeks. The Hydroman® TBZ415 high head submersible pump is built for that situation. It is an electric, centrifugal, fully submerged pump that you lower into the pit, connect to your discharge line, and let work.
If you are replacing a KBZ415 on an existing site, the TBZ415 is designed as a direct replacement. It keeps the same high head, submersible slurry-handling concept and offers the same kind of installation and service experience.
The TBZ415 is a vertically oriented submersible pump that combines a sealed electric motor with a centrifugal wet end. The motor sits directly beneath or beside the hydraulic section, so there is no long drive shaft, no surface motor to protect from mud and weather, and no priming to worry about. The pump is already under the liquid when it starts.
The wet end uses an impeller slurry pump design. This means a thick, wear-resistant impeller and volute meant to move liquids that carry solids, such as bentonite mud, drilling fluid, sandy water and industrial sludge. Where a clear-water high head pump would clog, this kind of impeller keeps the flow moving.
Typical jobs include bentonite slurry circulation on piling and diaphragm wall projects, high head dewatering in deep excavations and mines, and effluent transfer from sumps to treatment or discharge points.
Key Features of the Hydroman® TBZ415
Total head is more than the vertical lift. It is static height plus pipe friction, plus fittings, plus any pressure needed at the outlet. A pump that shows a good number on a brochure can still disappoint if the real system curve was never calculated. The TBZ415 is a high head centrifugal pump intended for high-resistance systems such as deep shafts, uphill slurry lines, and long runs through HDPE or steel pipe.
As an electric pump, the TBZ415 has no fuel tank, no exhaust, and much lower noise than a diesel unit. That matters in tunnels, basements, urban foundation projects and anywhere air quality or noise limits apply. A submerged motor is also cooled by the surrounding liquid, so you should keep it covered to the minimum submergence level in the manual and avoid prolonged dry running.
The impeller converts motor energy into velocity and then into pressure inside the volute. On a centrifugal slurry pump, the vanes are heavier, the passages are wider, and the material is harder than on a water pump. This keeps efficiency from falling off too fast as solids wear the casing. Many slurry impellers also include back vanes or an agitator to reduce recirculation and keep settled solids from packing the suction.
Slurry pumping is hard on shaft seals, bearings and liners. The TBZ415 is designed so that wear parts can be inspected and replaced without scrapping the whole unit. For jobs that run around the clock, that means planned maintenance instead of emergency stops.

TBZ415 Pump for Bentonite Slurry Transfer
Bentonite is the standard support fluid for bored piles, diaphragm walls, horizontal directional drilling and slurry shield tunneling. A typical fresh mix uses about 4–6% bentonite by weight, giving a density of roughly 1.03–1.06 g/cm³ and a Marsh funnel viscosity in the region of 30–50 seconds. Once cuttings are carried in the slurry during excavation, density can climb to 1.10 g/cm³ or higher.
That is why people look for a bentonite pump rather than a water pump. The slurry is denser, thicker, and often thixotropic: it gels when it stops moving. A submersible bentonite pump like the TBZ415 can sit directly in the trench, mud pit or settling tank, and work as an electric bentonite slurry pump for circulation to the desanding plant and back. Contractors call it a bentonite mud pump or a centrifugal bentonite pump, but the requirement is the same: moderate solids, higher density, and enough head to reach the separation equipment.
One honest caveat: because bentonite is viscous, centrifugal pumps lose some head and efficiency compared with water. We size the pump from your actual slurry properties, not from the water-rated curve alone.

Where the TBZ415 Works Best
In mining, tunneling, quarrying and sand washing, a high head slurry pump has to push abrasive mixtures uphill or over long distances. The high head submersible slurry pump format is useful when the source is a sump or pond, because it removes suction-line problems. As a rule of thumb, slurry lines are often designed for a velocity of about 1.5–3 m/s: slow enough to limit pipe wear, fast enough to prevent solids from settling.
Excavations for metro stations, foundations and shafts can need heads of 50 m or more in staged pumping. As a high head dewatering pump and high head submersible water pump, the TBZ415 handles sandy or silty water that would destroy a light-duty drainage pump. If you only need clear water, a high head water pump with a standard impeller will usually cost less, and we will say so.
For gritty industrial effluent, wash-down water and process sludge, the TBZ415 can work as a high head effluent pump. For sewage with rags, wipes or long fibres, use a pump with a cutter or a vortex/channel impeller instead of assuming any high head sewage pump will do. Tell us what is in the liquid and we will confirm.
Note: the TBZ415 is an industrial slurry and dewatering pump. If you are looking for a high head irrigation pump or a small high head sump pump for a house basement, a lighter product will be a better and cheaper fit.

How to Select the Best Pump for High Head Duty
The best pump for high head work is the one that matches your system, not the one with the biggest head number. Four questions get you most of the way.
1. What flow and total head do you really need? Add static lift, friction loss in the pipe, losses in valves and bends, and the pressure you need at the end of the line. People often underestimate friction on long slurry lines.
2. What is in the liquid? Density, viscosity, particle size, solids concentration and abrasiveness decide the impeller, wear material and motor size. A pump that is perfect for 2% fine silt may not suit 20% coarse sand.
3. What motor power and supply do you have? For water, shaft power in kW is approximately Q × H ÷ (367 × η), where Q is flow in m³/h, H is head in m and η is pump efficiency. For slurry, multiply by the specific gravity. For example, 100 m³/h at 60 m head with 60% efficiency and a slurry SG of 1.1 needs about 30 kW at the shaft, and you should add a margin for the motor.
4. What are the installation conditions? Check minimum submergence, level swings, pit size, discharge hose or pipe route, and duty cycle. A pump that runs 24 hours a day has different needs from one used for a weekend pump-out.
Why Customers Choose Hydroman® TBZ415
You get a pump selected for your medium and duty, not one pushed from stock. Our team reviews the flow, head, solids and power supply before recommending a configuration. We list only the materials and options that are actually available, and we support you with spare parts, drawings and technical answers after the order.
If you are moving from a KBZ415, send the old nameplate details and your current duty point. We will check the TBZ415 against them so the swap is simple, with matching connections and minimal change to your pit setup.
Use this table as a quick filter:
| Your situation | What to look for |

It is a pump with a sealed electric motor that works underwater and is designed to deliver liquid against a large total head. Head, flow and pipeline resistance are linked: as the system resistance rises, flow drops along the pump curve. That is why the pump must be chosen for the duty point, not for the maximum head alone.
Yes, within the limits of slurry density, viscosity and solids size shown on the performance data. Bentonite is thicker than water and can gel when idle, so please share your mix ratio and expected density when you ask for a quote. We will confirm the duty point and any derating.
A water pump uses a tighter, lighter impeller built for clean liquid and higher efficiency. A slurry pump uses wider passages, thicker walls and harder materials so it can move solids and survive abrasion. It is typically less efficient on clean water but lasts much longer on dirty duty.
Calculate it from flow, head, liquid density and pump efficiency, then add a safety margin. Check the motor against the full pump curve, not only the design point, so it does not overload when the system runs at a higher flow.
Send the target flow, required head, liquid type, solids content and particle size, voltage and frequency, installation conditions, and quantity. A pit sketch or pipe layout helps even more.
